I have a day off of work....it's just a few minutes past 11am and i need to get my rear in gear as I am meeting a friend for some coffee today. I haven't seen her since school ended the other week. i was supposed to be meeting up with a bunch of others but i guess it just didn't happen, not with the holiday and all of course, maybe soon.
Yesterday was interesting as i was alone at work all day but with one other girl for awhile at the cash register to help customers...no other chef there but me...then another girl came in to waitress and help do dishes etc...
it was ok..it rained..it sucked ass..i wish the sun had shone, but alas it didnt and so there tells the story of my life...ok maybe not. i feel off .....UGH!

Glad Midsommar!! (Happy Midsummer)
You know...I am funny about a few things...cleanliness is my biggest peeve...Everything has to be clean..I have to be clean... You know shower everyday etc etc..I am a freak about it. It grosses me out not to be clean and it is a HUGE turn-off for me. I don't know why but I was thinking about this last night. I can't imagine that if I didn't shower everyday, nobody would want to be near me, let alone my husband touch me or kiss me..lol...right???..strange I know but I seriously thought about this...My first rule of thumb..have a bath everyday..
Second rule of thumb......don't be lazy. Thats another turn-off for me. I just feel..I don't know how to explain but I hate laziness, plain and simple. So anyways I didn't know what else to blog about and I thought I should write something, so this is what you get..oh yeah and well today is the second largest holiday in Sweden next to Christmas...
Normally it should be sunny on this day so celebrations can continue as normal, however it is raining..and we are all going to Stig's house for the party....You can read a little about Midsommar here..... We are just waiting for another hour before we go...I'll have my mobile phone so I should get a lot of good pictures...Apparently it's all about eating sill,
which is actually rotten fish..yuck!!! and getting drunk and lots of dancing...and other traditional Swedish foods..I dunno..we will see what happens and considering the bad weather, I am guessing I am going to miss out on a lot of normal traditions seeing as this is normally done outside.
EDIT:
SO! Here you are..my photos from last night, our Midsommar right HERE..My husband also posted something about it as well. His link is to the right of the page...Sorry my photos are a little grainy...my mobile phone camera was extremely slow for some reason..oh well!..And yes I too danced around the Maypole, looking like a frog jumping around a mini fallus..hmm..
But we played a drinking game and if you got a certain card you had to do the dance, and we were all a little tipsy! Well we all did chug Vodka and Jack Daniels whiskey so! And I labeled all my pix for everyone too...Its funny, in the pix all my time stamps are there and you can see that we started to drink around 630pm?? and on past midnight we were still going at it..lol.. Thats like 6 hours of drinking right there..hahaha

Sista dagen av skolan...
Well today was the last day of school. I am going to miss everyone in August when they all go back to Richard our teacher and I am in another school across the city. But that is life....

Me: Miss USA & my buddy Anmar: Mr Iraq....

The whole class (with a few missing)...
I am in the middle row,2nd one in from the left...
The whole world sitting right here.

Everyones hand on the knife helping to cut the cake Kelvin brought in for his birthday today...also appropriate I think for our last day in school......
My heart goes out to everyone.

Nånting att tänka på
Well my life so far is good....
I moved out of the country and into Sweden....
I am an immigrant.
I can have a simple conversation in Swedish, though I know my grammar will improve...at least I can speak it. So I have been here about 7 months now and I completed my first part of schooling, SFI kurs C....In August I will go on to the 2nd half, kurs D which is the final course. Unless you want to go to SAS, which is the big big one!! That actually is the final course but I won't need to take that because I am not planning on being a rocket scientist. Only now instead of doing just that I will also attend culinary school at Burgården.
I am so happy that I can do this. Yesterday when I attended the meeting I was a little nervous that maybe I was going in over my head. I heard the other people who were there also speaking Swedish so good that I felt like I was at ground level. Then I thought about it and realized I am sort of because I just got here, but you know what? Considering I just got here, I think my swedish is good, and besides..those other people have been here way way longer then me and it's only natural that their Swedish is much better then mine.
I will be in a class with people of my level, even when we leave the classroom to go to the kitchen I will mostly work with those on my level, which I think will make it easy on everyone, but there will be times I will have to work on my own of course and sometimes everyone will work with the higher classes. All in all I know that I can do this.
I will be learning in school...
Swedish food culture in theory and practical work
Kitchen hygein
Mathematics
Swedish language class course D...
Home knowledge
Consumer Knowledge
Provisional knowledge
Nutrition
Orientation & guidance
Vegetarian food
and also....all kitchen terms and techniques and of course we will cook too..
I got to see the kitchen where everyone will work..I was SOOOOOOOO excited! It's just the coolest. You can click HERE to see more!! My school..yay! And this HERE is the restaurant where some of the practical work will be. It is right inside the building. You can click on a link to the left for english version of the website.
The big thing for me is making my parents proud. It is all I want from them. I know back home in the USA you can't just go to school again unless your loaded with money or you get some sort of scholarship etc etc...and loans and more student loans. I just want to have something I never thought I would have...I want to do things that maybe nobody thought I would ever do, like travel the world, which I have done...go back to school, which I am doing, and really really be something and have something for myself that I worked hard for.
When I think about living in Sweden, going to restaurant school here and learning not in english, but in a whole other language and actually doing it...it just does something for me deep down in..and the only person I think of is my mother, hoping for everything in this world that she is proud of me.
I really really want to do everything that is unexpected.....
I still can't get over that I can learn something thats not even in my native tongue..may take me years to get over it.
I alla fall, jag ska göra te eller kafe nu och sitter med min man och titta på en film, som heter...uhmmm jag vet inte!!!

Så...Vasågod!
Nothing to say really.
Its hot out, I started to get my tan.
School is almost out..boohoo
But I'll be working starting the 18th..yay!!!!!!
Mt first job outside of America..
Lets see....No school on Monday so we are going to a lake, have a little cookout, catch some sun, watch Tyson swim.....
Tuesday we have school.....Wednesday at school Kelvin is bringing some cake for his birthday BUT we are to go on a boat ride around the city and to the island of Hisingen..so I don't know where the cake will come in...and then Thursday is our last day of school.....
I will work the Fourth of July, which is a BIG BIG holiday for me back home in the USA, but since I am here I can't take off work and I will probably be the only one in the neighborhood trying to set off big huge fireworks....something I cannot get here anyways, not like the ones I want. I will have to settle with sparklers...crap. I think I'll just not do anything. I like the cookouts etc and everything....
At least my family will be having fun back home, waving the flag around, saying how great it is to be American....Loving our mother city New York....ok maybe they won't go that far, but you know! I miss New York City...it's only a 3 hour drive from mommas house! Philadelphia is an hour and a half away......Washington D.C. is only 2 hours away....Gettysburg is an hour away....I never realized just how close everything was back there in Pennsylvania.

PG-TV Goes mad!
You can read my husbands blog here http://cecrux.wordpress.com/
Whatever good things he says about me...don't listen! None of it is true. Only read the bad stuff! Now that has a grain of truth in it I am most sure of......

Kebab....
I had my first kebab today.
One of the treats from the middle eastern countries.
It was sooooooooooo good!!
A little messy with the sauce dripping all over the place...but so good.
It has some seasoned meat in it (kebab) with lettuce and tomato and cucumber and red onion and some garlic sauce on it and its rolled in arabic flat bread called khubz. Kinda of makes you think of a tortilla wrap...but better!!!

New Iraq
That's where I live....
It's true!
There are so many Iraqis here in little Hammarkullen-Göteborg...You would actually think that Baghdad was here and not in the middle-east.....hence the name New Iraq...
I wonder what would happen if we put up a sign right outside the apartment builings that said that? I'd probably get myself hunted down and killed...or actually I think they would riot against me...and seeing as the house is so close, I don't think it would be hard for them to find me.
I seen these guys today....one was deffinatelly middle eastern, wearing this outfit that was almost like a dress and he had sandals on and some sort of cap, there were maybe 2 other middle eastern guys but were dressed normally and then with them there were like 2 or 3 african men. Something fishy was going on. They had their cars parked where they wouldn't really been seen by anyone..yet as I walked over the little bridge towards home with Tyson, I could look directly down at them and see what they were doing. however I knew that it would be in my best interest to NOT see what was going on.
Out of the corner of my eye though I could see the guy in the dress thingy and cap look right up at me...and he just kept watching me, but I only looked at Tyson, trying to get him to walk but he had to #2 if you know what I mean...so all I could do is stand there wishing this dog would hurry up. The one car ended up speeding away. I still didn't look, but I could see still the guy looking up at me on the bridge....So eventaully Tyson got done..... I walked across the little bridge normally acting as though I didn't see a thing. This guy got in his car.....he backed up but stopped...Tyson was behind me so I turned to look at him to see what he was doing but also out of the corner of my eye I seen this guy sitting there in his car......waiting...then he drove off. I was SO scared!
Those guys were up to no good and I had to make sure that they thought i didn't even realize they were there...but it was all too obvious to me what was going on...probably drug trading or something...or something worse..who knows....but I hope I never see that again.
This is what the guy was wearing..the hat and cap..weird!

Case of the red devil
You wish for one thing.
You get another.
Life throws many things at you.
You get confused.
You wander about.
Your lost,
no,
Your found.
Or so you think.
You get another.
Life throws many things at you.
You get confused.
You wander about.
Your lost,
no,
Your found.
Or so you think.
