My Laziness.....

So as I read all these blogs from guys about relationships and stuff I get pushed into doing one too. My laziness sometimes excedes me and I can't be bothered to do much. That's what it's like being an American. Lazy. It's all we know.

Aside from my sarcastic remarks I actually want to say some things that were brought to my attention. Well maybe not really, because if I haven't noticed that I am in an inter-cultural marriage then I really am stupid, but seriously...

Well I don't think about the cultural difference really and I don't notice (until this second) that I am the only caucasion person in this house. I might believe I am phillipino like the rest for the most part. Really! When I first came here everything was a blur and it was strange to hear this new language, Swedish, and on top of it, Tagalog. I almost felt alone, with the exception of my husband. He was the only person who I could speak my mind to and be 100% understood. Now however, I can speak to anyone and I don't even notice the Tagalog mostly. Their English has improved too..it's funny.

Sometimes I actually start to understand what they are talking about, partially because of some of the spanish words and very minimally because I have learned a few Tagalog words along the way. Not enough but good enough for a start. The family here is catholic as many pinoys are. The family values are held high. To the extreme really, something even 'P' will agree with me upon. he says this is the mob family. It quite possibly is true.

I see relationships as serious, but I take a lot of things lightly. Most of it due to my cultural upbringing and what I have been through in my life and the people I have surrounded myself with for 32 years. Crap I'm old!

I'm not saying I flip everything off, because now that I read that I can see how someone can take it that way. What I mean by that is that when you say something to me, I take it literally if you say you mean it that way, and I move on. I don't press because I don't feel there is a need if what you say is true. I want to move on. Sometimes that gets me in trouble..lol

However.. I was going to say something else and forgot....doesn't matter. It's late. uhmm... I've watched almost a whole season of 'The Bachelor' and it's time to go read Hairy's blog now.

Oh yeah the love thing and infatuation stuff I just read on Mogli's blog.... There is no love at first sight. You may look at someone and cream yourself literally..but thats not love honey...thats lust!

I think somewhere along the way I avoided saying what I thought about relationships. I didn't mean too, but I am going to bed and not about to start this blog over again..hehe

Let me confirm, even moving from one English speaking country to another I have found a lot of cultural differences.

What have you noticed when it comes to the Swedish ways of lives? Anything major? Btw, out of curiosity, is that photo at the top taken in Sweden?

PV:Cultural differences can be tough to get through, but in the end they are things you can overcome.

Carl: I have noticed the major things that if you do something stupid, you get blatantly ignored, dating is strange for me, not that I have been but from what I heard, its not like back home...nothing major I don't think. Yes the photo at the top is taken here at the house in sweden, why do you ask?

Oh and I also noticed that sometimes swedes are taken aback by my bluntness. i am american and i say it as i see it. i dont think swedes are so forward. i think they would rather keep it to themselves and talk about you later behind your back, from experience and also i have been told this from swedes themselves. i dont mind. everyone is different. i try to keep an open mind.

Ok, yeah you're probably right about ignorance-thing and the talk-behind-the-back-thing, obviously they're connected. By the way, what do you mean about the dating-thing?

I just wondered about the picture simply because it was beautifulicious (hehe...). You're lucky to have a such a stunning view right at your house!

Hey! Cool you took the challenge from us guys writing about relationships! :D Very straightforward yet insightful piece here, I must say. Being in a Filipino household is perhaps not that culturally-shocking as we (filipinos) are so very much westernized in many ways. We are a product of 300 hundreds years in the spanish convent and 50 years in hollywood! Damn, we are more catholic than the italians themselves! LOL!
Other than the language, which you already pointed out, there's really not much cultural collisions right? Maybe too much karaoke during parties? I don't know but we just love to sing! Hahaha!

Carl: the dating thing i mean by saying that from what i hear people dont openly flirt here like they do back home and from what i am told usually its only at clubs when people have been drinking do they hit on each other. also from what i am told, nobody seems to know where they stand with the other person which i find strange, why not ask? and then a lot of this stuff is text text text through their mobil phone.

its just very different then what i am used to because i am pretty straight forward when i like someone. i would just say so and openly hit on them.

Mogli: you nailed it on the head...pinoys are very americanized and as for the karaoke?? holy crap that made me laugh. i think at EVERY party the music comes out and everyone is singing..even i get into it..though slightly embarrased at first. its still fun.

Well, actually I'm living together with a woman I met at a class at the university and there was no alcohol (lol..) and no club involved. maybe me and my girl are exceptions? Most of my friends have met their girlfriends at clubs, whn I come to think about it, not necessarily drunk, though...

Thats good then! So the club thing is true pretty much..lol

thats life i guess
