So the owner of the company I work for has an alpaca farm called Kleen Acres. The little buggers sure are cute and soft, and I've been there many times to the farm as it's local to me. I've knit with alpaca before but it is NOT my preferred choice of yarn.

The bosses wife, Patty, said she had seen me knitting at work. She wants samples for her shop. Not samples as in for display, but samples that she can sell. This is new to me but I agreed. So she handed me this box of alpaca yarn that she had spun at the mill from her very own alpacas, and told me I'm free to make what I want. Oi! I'm starting out with a cowl.
