I went to Manhattan yesterday for the day as I live so close....well compared to most people I live really close. We got there in 2 hours, Record time!!!

Tony & I had breakfast in Times Square, walked around, took a ferry out on the Hudson and went to the Statue of Liberty. Afterwards we went on a mini yarn crawl. I picked 3 shops so we wouldn't be pounding the pavement all day. Who knew there were about 20 yarn shops in that city?

There were a few other choice shops I wish I would have gone to, however it's all in hindsight and next time I will see if the other shops would be more worth it.

First stop...

359 Broadway, New York, NY 10013(212) 226-1534

This one was in Chinatown....From what I heard & read they had a massive selection of yarn...could've fooled me and what they had was all acrylic & a few hanks of Cascade 220. Nobody greeted me or anything... I was not impressed and walked out.

Next stop....

459 Broome Street, New York, NY 10013(212) 420-8796
In Soho of course....I thought it would have been bigger but it was beautiful, the people were VERY friendly & helpful. The shop was clean and colorful and I couldn't decide what I wanted. I did come out with 2 hanks of Spud & Cloë Fine sock in the colorway Dachschund which is a dark olive green. They didn't have in stock what I was wanting, (Fiber Company Organik for a Hannah Fettig cardigan) So I'll look around for that one.

Last stop...

98 Thompson Street, New York, NY
(212) 966-9266

When I first walked up to it in The Village, it was not what I expected and I wasn't sure I would go in. It looked like a closet, but in I went. A woman came out, said hi, sat down, ignored me. It was small. crisp, clean & cute. It was also expensive beyond belief. If you wanted to buy one of their kits, you would either spend the $100 or more for the kit or spend $150 or more and have them knit the item up for you!..ohhhh...Not cheap but it was in a nicer area of the city. More a 'designer' shop then anything. If I had money to blow whenever I wanted, yes I would have come out with something, but that didn't happen.

All in all it was a great trip, lots of fun, walking & laughter & I came home with some yarn.

Happy Monday & Happy Knitting!
