I made tamales. I freaking made tamales here in Sweden. I knew god was good to me. Even though I don't have the exact ingredients, it is possible to make them here.
its not complicated actually. Its a traditional mexican dish. Its like a doughy sort of substance(Masa Mix) that has shredded chicken or pork on it and also chipotle sauce on top, then you wrap it in either banana leaf or preferrably corn husks, you steam it then eat them..they are the best if you like something a little hot. they are better made my true mexicans which by the way i have mexican friends who make the best! however they are in the USA and I am in sweden..so..but i managed to get the stuff.
They sound awesome. I think I might struggle to find some of those ingredients (banana leaf? corn husk? wrong time of year...) but I've officially added tamales to my "to cook" list.
if you can kind a mexican store in your area then you'd find the corn husks. they sell them dried in packs and you have to soak them in warm water when your ready to use them so they become pliable. i have a great recipe if you want it. you would have to get the masa mix, corn husks and chipotle peppers in a can from them, whole peppers, unless you can find that at your grocery store. the rest of the stuff is all basic ingredients.
