This is going to be bad.....

I just know it!

The yarn I purchased for this child's sweater is not worth the money I paid for it. $8.50 a skein and I bought 9...thats a lot of money. I over-bought but I usually do. I have plans for the extra.

I told the lady that I wanted superwash merino in a brown color. She really didn't have any...not in that color or in worsted. And to think that her shop is covered, literally, wall to wall to ceiling in yarns. So I could/should have went home and opened my Webs or Knit Picks catalog and bought say - Swish yarn @ $3.79 a ball in the color Truffle or some other yarn close to this.

But I didn't. When I got home is when I really looked at the label to see why it cost so much. Of course...Cashmere is in the mix. Don't get me wrong, the yarn is lovely and soft enough, but durable? Hmm. I don't know if this is a smart choice for a child's sweater. It has to be hand washed, which I guess is ok, but not ideal for a 2 year old.

As I knit with it my yarn broke. I tossed it off as a weak spot and trudged on. Then I noticed the yarn getting thinner in spots....I grabbed the other end of the ball and pulled a piece out of the center, pulled a bit and sure enough, it broke off easy. So now I am knitting this with extreme care in hopes I don't break it in mid sweater. I think this is going to end in disaster. I'm hoping and praying that maybe with it being knitted, that the yarn will be stronger and not say - fall apart when the mother puts it on him...I'll die.

So in the meantime I am moving along because I have to say that the milk chocolate tweedy color is very nice. The pattern is easy-peasy and it goes together well with the color. The cables stand out very well too... I took these photos at work, fluorescent lighting is not my friend.
