Double Knitting

Last night I was thinking about some things, one of them being double knitting.
Why?
Because on Facebook I had seen that my friend Heather was going to teach a class on it at our LYS.

I also remembered that she had a Back To School Challenge on teaching yourself something new. I got an itch and looked online out of curiosity.

Hmm...I wondered how hard this was going to be. So I gave it a go. My first attempt was bad. My second attempt...look below.

So even though it's way too loose, I got it and signed up for Heathers Back to School Challenge on Ravelry.

I think If I used smaller needles the piece would look better, but I was only meaning to test this out so I didn't care about needle size and I think that is my downfall. Also it takes forever to work one row...There has to be a trick to working both sides faster!

Ah! looking good! You should sign up and take the class :) It's going to be fun - only $20!

Double Knitting is something I've always wanted to try too, but haven't got around to it yet. Yours doesn't look too bad to me!
