Over spun is not fun

On my previous post I over spun my yarn which made it turn into a mess.
It twisted back onto itself.
I didn't know!
I never spun before. So now I realized to take my time, let it twist lightly, then when you have made two spools full, ply them together with a little bit of twist and it comes out beautifully.

See!

It's not perfect, but it's pretty good I think.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Well I had a good birthday I guess but Christmas was EXCELLENT!!!!!!

I had NO idea I was getting an Ashford spinning wheel...Whhoooottt!!!

This is my second attempt at a spin. The first one was frustrating and VERY chunky.
I think I have the hang of it now....I'm more even on the tension and I would like to go for a thinner thread because when I ply it together with the next spin I'd like a worsted weight.

This is the beautiful wheel. Un-varnished but I don't care. I can do it myself. If I ever feel like it.

Classic Castle Wheel

And of course the wool roving that came along in another package. It only said on a slip of paper inside the bag Light Gray Corriedale wool - 1lb.
CORRIEDALE The Corriedale is the result of selected breeding using Lincoln and English Leicester rams on Merino ewes. This breed is the oldest of the crossbred wool breeds. It was developed in New Zealand and was first registered in 1868

I hope my attempts at spinning just keep getting better. I guess it's a good thing I never bought that spindle for myself last week!

I did it

Sometimes I don't know when to leave well enough alone.
I say something and realize I am JUST like someone else.
I've picked up their habits and say almost the same things that person did, but I don't realize it until the words are out of my mouth.

Then I get to thinking.
I get curious.
And I try to thank someone.
I don't mean to bring up old pains, but I know thats exactly what I have done.
It's not what I intended. I just want to know if everyone is ok.
What are they doing now..
How is everyone?
How is the dog???? My god the dog!

Well, just by saying Thank you for teaching me something about myself, I have dragged up old hurts. It kills me.

It really kills me.
You can always wish things were different but once you've done something, you can't turn back the clock and change it.
Time machines don't exist.

I am a terrible person.

Jag önskar att jag kan bo i Sverige igen.
Jag vet det kan inte händer, men....jag har drömmar

YTI

THIS is my school and the program I will be going through and what my degree will be, what i'll learn..my god what a list!!!!!!!!

I took my entrance exam on Tuesday and got 92 out of 100 for the reading comprehension and I got a B on the math section. Which shocked the hell out of me because when it started, I seen math that I had NOT done in school ever. And I don't mind saying it's been what...15 years since I went to school? It's not the same. The math freaked me out and I'm good at math, but I swear some of it was calculus.
Either way I got mail yesterday that says congrats! I am officially enrolled :)

My birthday is Tuesday so this is my birthday present to me! I'll be 33!!!! shit.

More school stuff

So I went to the school and paid the application fee and Tuesday I have to take the entrance exam.. I got to look at the class rooms, or kitchens I should say and the school run restaurant. I got to try on my chef's outfit i'll have to wear and also got a peek at the knife...the beautiful knife set i'll own.

I'm freaking excited!!!

So after the entrance exam, which you don't have to pass (they just wanna see what you know in the kitchen, for those who never worked in one before etc etc...)....I'll set up my appointment with the financial advisors to discuss what grants and loans i'll receive.....January 24th is orientation and February 9th will be my 1st day at school.

The class will be small because of it being in the evening, which is good, more one on one teacher time. She also asked me what restaurant I would love to work for in my externship..I said Symposium of course!!!! Dying to work there...she smiled and said "Well it turns out that your head teacher is the Head chef there! I see you'll be able to get your externship there and he can get you a job there as well..."

yayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The restaurant is magnificent and the service is great and the few times I ate there not only did I go broke but the Ostrich was WONDERFUL!

I'm giddy like a 10 year old....can't help it. I've dreamed of working for Symposium since forever....I can't believe my teacher is head chef there..wooott!!

Finally something to talk about

I haven't done much lately.
I read like crazy. And if you noticed I keep a tab on the side to what I'm currently reading, which lately I have been going through a book in like, 2 days, sometimes less depending on the thickness of it.

I also go tomorrow morning, early, to a local campus because...........I AM GOING BACK TO SCHOOL! again.....Classes start Feb 9th....for 21 months.

I went to school in Sweden last year, took 2 semesters in Language arts...now even though I have 11 years experience in being a chef, I decided I should actually go to school for it..why not? It will be soooo fun!

I will be getting a degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management...so I'm getting the whole freaking deal rolled into one....From running a place to cooking for one. I've done both...but not for HUGE places so...we'll see...for $40,000 it beter be worth it!

Jingle Bells

I put a few of my knitting projects on hold to make a few small ones. Like this Jingle Bells stocking I am making for Brads mom for christmas.

I found it on THIS website called I Live On A Farm.

She has beatiful knit stockings and I had a hard time choosing which one to do, and this one got me with the bells and ribbons....how could I resist?

In the end...this should be what it looks like...cute!!!!
